I got this really cute idea for Christmas Coasters off of a craft blog http://www.beneathmyheart.net/
I wanted to do something fun with the kids that we could give as neighbor gifts and of course not spending much money.
I got a box of 100 plain white tile from Lowe's. 16 cents a tile. Packs of napkins were a dollar each. Some Mod Podge, clear Acrylic spray, and some corkboard.
Then put the kids to work!!!
Just paint on a layer of glue with a sponge brush...the boys were great at this part.
Stick on a napkin (cut to size), let it dry a bit, then paint another layer of glue on top. The Mod Podge makes the napkin crinkle a bit so it gives it a nice look.
Corkboard comes in different thicknesses. The thinest would probably be best. Our was a little thick but it was fine. It was just a little tougher to cut! My wonderful husband was nice enough to cut most of it up for me.
Just used a hot glue gun and stuck the corkboard to the back of the tile.
Alex is my little model showing you both sides.
Then it was off to the garage to give each tile a coating of the acrylic spray. This stuff is very strong so i made sure we weren't breathing it in. Alex kept asking me what we were doing with these bandanas on our faces. Hahaha. We had fun.
Made 68 tiles
Then after a day of letting them air out in the garage we brought all the tiles back in to wrap up. I got a hole punch to put the ribbon through our homemade label..Alex was in charge of that of course. Amazing how one little hole punch can make a kid so happy.
We had fun making our Christmas Coasters and I think they turned out way cute. It was nice to give our friends and neighbors something we did as a family.
